The TAPAS project evaluated existing farm-scale modelling tools for the evaluation of the ecotoxicological impacts generated by potentially toxic substances used in EU aquaculture and contributed to improving them to allow testing of the regulatory. The project generated modeling scenarios for the environmental risk evaluation of potentially toxic substances representing the main aquaculture practices in EU. TAPAS also compiled, developed, and tested environmental thresholds for potentially toxic substances used in EU aquaculture with laboratory and semi-field ecotoxicological experiments to minimize chemical discharge and environmental impacts. The following tasks were completed:
- Evaluating and improving existing farm-scale modelling tools for the evaluation of the ecotoxicological risks generated by antifouling agents, veterinary medicines and potentially toxic compounds
- Compiling, developing, and testing environmental thresholds for potentially toxic substances used in EU aquaculture
- Developing rapid assessment tools for the prospective ERA of potentially toxic substances that can be used by farm applicants and regulators
