Keith Brown MSP and Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Jobs and Fair Work visited the Institute of Aquaculture, University of Stirling. During his attendance, he discussed the broad range of work undertaken at the Institute and Trevor Telfer, coordinator of TAPAS, also introduced the TAPAS project, highlighting the key aims and objectives. Aquaculture is an important part of the Scottish economy, it’s a valuable sector for food exports and it also provides employment opportunities especially in more rural locations such as the Highlands and Islands. Scotland is currently the largest producer of salmon in the EU and the third largest globally exporting salmon to more than fifty countries.
