Over the last few months, TAPAS partner, University of Nantes have been running IMTA (Integrated Multi-Trophic Aquaculture) laboratory trials to evaluate the potential for diversification of shellfish farming activities. Oyster, urchins and macroalgae are being grown together to see if they can survive by feeding upon the waste nutrients of each other, hopefully resulting in lower waste in discharge waters.
