Stephanie Palmer, TAPAS postdoc from University of Nantes, recently got a crash course in small-scale oyster farming. Stephanie was instructed by Florence Buzin and Richard Chaigneau of Benth'Ostrea, who advise TAPAS on our near-field case study for WP5 on the potential of off-shore oyster production in Bourgneuf Bay. Stephanie uses satellite image data of the bay to integrate maps of various factors that affect the potential and productivity of oyster cultivation into growth modelling. This in turn highlights offshore areas best-suited to production according to the requirements and limitations identified by producers to increase production.
